You will notice that church members wear name tags. The name tags contribute greatly towards the building of friendships within St. Marks.
Occasionally there are 5 Sundays in a month. On those "5th Sundays," during the 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. services, the worship is primarily lead by the St. Marks Band. Most of the service is comprised of singing old favorites and new hymns.
You won't be able to miss the wonderful aroma of pancakes coming from the fellowship room. The United Methodist Men serve up pancakes and sausage links for breakfast following each hymn sing service. There is no charge for the breakfast, simply a free will offering, with the proceeds going towards mission projects sponsored by United Methodist Men.
St Marks practices what is called "open communion," which is to say, anyone and everyone is welcome to the Lord's table for the breaking and sharing of bread and grape juice. We believe that the invitation to receive communion is a personal invitation to the Lord's table from Jesus Christ, and that it is not the province of human beings to interfere with that invitation, to come between Christ and any individual.
Communion is served every Sunday at the 10:50 a.m. service. On the first Sunday of each month, communion is also served during the 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. services. During Lent and Advent, communion is served at all three services every Sunday.
If you should have difficulties hearing the service, please seek an usher for help. Hearing assistance devices are available.
Children are an important part of our church community and are always welcome in worship! At the 8:00 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. service we invite any children who are worshipping with us to come to the front of the sanctuary for the children's message. Following the 8:00 a.m. children's message only, children age 3 through kindergarten are invited to attend children's church if they choose to do so. They will return while the offering is being collected.
At the 9:30 a.m. service there is no children's message or children's church. Children are always welcome in worship, but because Sunday school is held during the 9:30 a.m. service time, no children's message is scheduled.
